A magnitude 5.3 earthquake took place early Tuesday morning in Surigao del Norte, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The quake at 5:41 a.m. was 68 kilometers northeast of the municipality of Burgos, also in the province, Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum told The Manila Times.
