IF President Rodrigo Duterte were to ask him about seeking the vice presidency, former running mate and now Taguig-Pateros 1st District Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano said he would advise Duterte to "just be the elder statesman."
"Sabihin ko sa kanya, 'Boss, isa ka sa naging pinakamagaling na presidente. Baka tamaan pa iyong legacy mo at you know, marami pang issues. Alam mo, kahit sinong susunod na presidente, kahit si Leni, magtatanong sa iyo iyan (I will tell him 'Boss, you are one of the best presidents. Your legacy might be tainted and you know there are still a lot of issues. You know, whoever succeeds you, even Leni will ask you), so just be the elder statesman," Cayetano, Duterte's vice presidential candidate in the 2016 elections, said in an interview on Monday.
