NEWLY crowned US Open Golf Champ Yuka Saso will be featured in Philippine Post Office stamps, Postmaster General Norman "Mr. Postman" Fulgencio announced on Thursday.

"The 19-year-old Filpina golfer must be given the honor to be featured in Postage Stamp and Postcard for her unprecedented victory," Fulgencio said in a statement.

A two-time Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) awardee, Saso was cited in 2017 for winning the gold medal at the 2016 World Junior Girls Championship team event. She also won two golds at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Fulgencio said that for the first time, the Post Office will honor living Filipinos who have brought inspiration, joy, pride and glory to the Philippine community and have heavily contributed in their chosen field.

The Post Office will also issue stamps for acclaimed but relatively unknown Filipino writers, designers, sports personalities, musicians, artists, scientists, and other nationally and internationally known figures, both living and deceased.

Aside from this, the Post Office said famous modern day artists will create their own designs for the definitive stamps to add more excitement and prestige.

A definitive stamp is a postage stamp that is part of the regular issuance of a country's stamps, for sale at the post office for an extended period of time.
