A majority of Filipinos continue to comply with basic safety protocols against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), according to the May 2021 survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS).
Of the 1,200 people polled, 75 percent said that they always wear a face mask when going out, while 67 percent said that they always wash their hands multiple times a day.
At least 58 percent said that they always maintained physical distancing when in contact with people outside their residence while 53 percent said that they always used a face shield when in public transportation or in public places and establishments.
SWS said that "compliance with these basic Covid-19 protocols hardly changed from September 2020, when 79 percent said they always use a face mask, 67 percent wash their hands, 60 percent always keep physical distance, and 56 percent always use a face shield."
However, data also showed that compliance for all cited practices has declined in Visayas and Mindanao.
The survey was conducted from April 28 to May 2 using face-to-face interviews, with a sampling margin error of ±3 percent.
