AS the Philippines marks its 123rd Independence Day on Saturday, President Rodrigo Duterte urged Filipinos to be "heroes in our own right" in pursuit of the common good amid the country's fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
In a taped message aired during the commemoration of Independence Day at Rizal Park in Manila, Duterte acknowledged that "the challenges of the past year have tested our character as a nation."
