I am not a fan of the "potpourri" style of column, but this past week has provided more than the usual number of official foibles to talk about, and it would be a disservice to omit any of them. So, sit back and enjoy this brief review of your government in action in ways ranging from the merely dumb to the mind-bendingly stupid.

The week began with a press briefing at one of my favorite and, in my opinion, most underrated agencies, the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). It is a shame that LWUA chief Jeci Lapus will probably finish out the Duterte administration's term as the "acting" administrator of the agency; whether this actually bothers him, he would certainly be too polite to admit, but he ought to be formally confirmed by the Commission on Appointments.
