Elizalde Tolentino entered the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Music as a percussion major in 1987. He was a member of the UP Symphonic Band; the ROTC Band and the UP Brass Quintet (as a tuba player). In 1993, he earned his Diploma in Creative Performing Musical Arts, major in Percussion.

After school, he went on to become the principal player of several orchestras such as the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, the San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra, the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra. Today, he is Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO)'s principal timpanist and percussionist. Concurrently, he is a percussion lecturer at the UP College of Music.
