Throughout tumultuous 2020, newsfeeds everywhere were peppered with stories of store closures and bankruptcies in the retail space. Established brands that had become fixtures of our shopping experiences were suddenly folding or reporting alarming drops in revenue as malls continued to be – for the most part – empty.

Hopefully these bankruptcies signal an opportunity to fight another day. And with vaccinations ongoing in many parts of the world, there is hope that 2021 will be the year the retail sector bounces back. What it will look like in a post-pandemic world may, however, be significantly changed.
