SEN. Sherwin Gatchalian pushed for the removal of the 100-kilowatt size limit in the installation of power generation facilities under the net metering program in order to encourage large power consumers to invest in the electricity sector and develop the use of indigenous and renewable energy (RE) resources.

The chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy filed Senate Bill (SB) 2219, an act enhancing the implementation of the net-metering program, amending for the purpose Republic Act (RA) 9513, otherwise known as the "Renewable Energy Act of 2008."
