MAINTAINING Alert Level 2 over Taal Volcano was just right despite calls from local officials to lift or at least lower it to allow tourism to prosper in the Batangas province after it again recorded more tremors and gas emissions in the past 24-hour period.

This was according to Renato Solidum, chief of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), who told The Manila Times its current alert status would remain as an eruption from the volcano would always be possible.
