Mayor suspended over illegal actions vs mining firm

THE Ombudsman has ordered the suspension of the mayor of Brooke's Point in Palawan over her actions against Ipilan Nickel Mining Corp.

Ordered suspended for one year without pay was Mayor Jean Feliciano of Brooke's Point for "oppression or grave abuse of authority" following her illegal actions in stopping the operations of Ipilan Nickel and demolishing its mining properties. She is "suspended for one year from service without pay" for taking "undue advantage of her official position" as an "educated lawyer," the Ombudsman said.
