Noynoy Aquino in history

FILIPINOS are generally deferential to the recently deceased. It is considered bad taste to talk ill of them. But the sudden death of former president Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino 3rd last Thursday stirred emotions and debate. These conversations reflect more on the political persuasions of people rather than on the man himself.

But public figures and celebrities, especially government officials, should never expect mercy. The moment one enters public office, his accountability is with the people and ultimately, with history.
