Philippine Judo Federation president Dave Carter said Kiyomi Watanabe, the first female judoka from the Philippines to qualify for the Olympics, has a good chance of winning a medal in the Tokyo Games slated from July 23 to August 8.

"Definitely (she can make an upset), just like how she competed in the 2018 Asian Games. She defeated Korea and others in her bracket to meet (Nami) Nabekura of Japan, who is also one of the top bets in the Tokyo Olympics," Carter said at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) online forum on Tuesday.
