STATE seismologists are closely monitoring Taal Volcano as it continues to emit high sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas and manifest volcanic earthquakes after last week's eruption.
Asked about the possibility of lowering the alert status at the Batangas volcano, Renato Solidum Jr., chief of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), said Alert Level 3 would remain as magma rising from its main crater could drive an explosive eruption.
