The worsening dispute among high-ranking officials of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino- Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) will go all the way to the Supreme Court, Palace Spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said.
He made the statement after the camp of Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel 3rd refused to recognize the election of officers led by the faction of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi held last July 17.
"It will go all the way up to the SC," Roque told The Manila Times when asked how President Rodrigo Duterte, the party's chairman, will resolve the dispute.
The PDP-Laban faction led by Cusi ousted Sen. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao as party president on July 17. It also ousted Pimentel as executive vice chairman.
Pimentel said the election, which was backed by Duterte, was illegal and had "no force and effect."
