Over a thousand contractual employees of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) are reportedly not getting their salaries on time as the agency's Express Lane Fund (ELF) hit rock bottom because of dwindling arrivals of foreign nationals because of health and travel restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The employees' salaries are funded by the ELF, which is sourced from fees imposed by the BI on foreign nationals who want to fast-track the processing of their documents.
