DHAKA:
The United States on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) voiced alarm over what it called a deteriorating climate for press freedom in Bangladesh, which has increasingly made use of a draconian digital security law.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has become a close partner of the United States, which has welcomed her support on climate change and against Islamic extremism as well as her government's welcome to hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees fleeing a brutal military campaign in neighboring Myanmar.
