THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said credit standards on loans to businesses are expected to tighten in the third quarter of this year based on its latest survey, with the less positive economic outlook highlighted as one of the reasons cited by respondent banks.

According to the results of the central bank's Second Quarter 2021 Senior Bank Loan Officers' Survey, the diffusion index (DI) approach showed "expectations of net tighter standards amid a deterioration of borrowers' profiles and in the profitability of banks' portfolio, less favorable economic outlook, and banks' decreased tolerance for risk."
