President Rodrigo Duterte asked local government units (LGUs) to come up with a 'sane' system in vaccinating their constituents during rainy days, saying they should not let the people queue in the rain or in flooded areas.Duterte made the statement after seeing photos of people wading through knee-high floods earlier this week to get vaccinated.'The problem is local governments should come up with a more sane process of vaccination [rather] than allowing people to queue as early as four in the morning and getting their shots at about nine in the morning. It's not the way to vaccinate people,' Duterte said in his pre-recorded meeting with the government's pandemic task force on Saturday night.'Waiting as early as 4 o'clock in the morning. It's bullshit. Umagang-umaga, naku Diyos ko po. Bakit naman ganon (That's too early. My God. Why did you let that happen)?' he added.The President said LGUs should look for dry areas where people could get vaccinated instead of exposing them to health risks such as leptospirosis and influenza.'Pag tinamaan 'yan ng simple cold, it can deteriorate to a respiratory problem. If Covid comes into the picture, that's worse),' he added.Neither rain nor floods stopped Manila residents from lining up to get a Covid-19 jab earlier this week at the San Andres Sports Complex, one of the vaccination sites in the city.Some LGUs in Metro Manila have closed vaccination centers because of the monsoon rains.
