THE Philippine Airlines (PAL) and AirAsia gifted the Philippines' first Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz a lifetime of free flights.
PAL rewarded Diaz an 80,0000 free miles per year for winning the country's first Olympic gold medal.
This, according to PAL, also makes her the airline's first "forever flyer".
In a statement, PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Gilbert Santa Maria said that it has been PAL's "mission to support outstanding Filipino athletes to enable them to showcase their skills to the world".
Meanwhile, AirAsia posted on its website that it will be giving the weightlifting champion a lifetime of free flights.
AirAsia gave the award "in recognition of her hard work, passion, and sportsmanship best exemplified during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics".
"We in AirAsia would like to congratulate Hidilyn for her wonderful achievement of representing our country and earning our very first Gold medal in the Olympics," AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.
Hidilyn Diaz won the Philippines' first Olympic gold medal after winning in the women's 55-kilogram weightlifting event in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
