THE Department of Health (DoH) has reiterated that the National Capital Region is not experiencing a surge in the number of cases but admits that coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections are continuing to rise in the region.
The DoH statement comes after the independent OCTA Research Group recommended to the government to enforce a two-week "circuit breaker" lockdown to prevent a surge due to Covid-19's highly transmissible Delta variant, which could lead to "thousands" of deaths,
