AFTER Malacañang allowed OceanaGold (Philippines) Inc. (OGPI) to operate anew its Didipio Mine in Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya, the company said the staged restart of the mine is underway with focus on the rehiring and training of its workforce.
"[Our] primary focus is the safe and responsible start-up of operations, which includes recruitment and training of the workforce and the transport of approximately 15,000 tons of copper-gold concentrate produced prior to the shutdown of operations," Michael Holmes, Melbourne-based OceanaGold Corp. president and chief executive officer, said.
