The Philippines reported 6,879 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, the first time new cases dipped below 8,000 in four days but the Department of Health attributed the low figure to decreased test output.

Only 37,302 tests were sampled, in which 17.5 percent, or 6,528, returned positive. Nine laboratories were not able to submit their data.
