THE last time we witnessed the opposition uniting behind a single candidate was in 1986, during the snap presidential elections. It was Ferdinand E. Marcos, President vs Cory C. Aquino, housewife. Marcos ran under KBL, Aquino under Unido. The former president won that election, while the opposition protested the outcome of the polls and accused Marcos of massive cheating.
