Some cities, particularly in Metro Manila, are expected to achieve herd immunity or complete the vaccination of 70 percent of their population as early as September, according to the country's pandemic task force.

The expectation comes after the government said it was targeting to inoculate at least half of the residents of the National Capital Region (NCR) by the end of August through a "more aggressive" response.
