The Department of Education (DepEd) has partnered with the United States Agency for International Development (USAid) to establish the Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines (ABC+) project to ensure foundational skills in reading, literacy, math and socio-emotional skills of students from Kindergarten to Grade 3.

The project provides materials to teachers and parents which were translated into local languages to help children learn in their mother tongue, including Cebuano, Bikol, Hiligaynon, Tagalog, Magindanaon, Rinconada, Minasbate and Kinaray-a.
