The loss of Anthony Bourdain on June 8, 2018 took a heavy toll on a lot of us. Many of my friends read Kitchen Confidential, a hot book in the aughts and I'd feel left out when it was discussed. Then there were the Filipino lovers of food and travel who were extra happy and excited each time he came here, for "No Reservations" or "Parts Unknown." Bourdain seemed to be up for so many experiences and it was great to see him enjoy street food, eat by a food cart, or outdoor kiosk. I think that part of him really endeared him to so many. He was on our CNN and on YouTube, talking directly to us it seemed.

Yet at the same time, there was so much going on in his personal life and in his head which we knew nothing about. This notion of course driven home by that end.
