There's a running joke that the Los Angeles Lakers are the "Expendables" of the NBA. With a reunion of past, over the hill All-Stars like Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, and Marc Gasol, there is a basis for the remark.
However, we must not forget that this Lakers team has two top 7 players in LeBron James and Anthony Davis (aside from the Lakers, only the Brooklyn Nets can claim to have two top-level players in their roster). Also, last time we checked, a player averaging a triple-double is not over-the-hill. Russell Westbrook, for all the "empty stats" criticism, was able to drag his teams to the playoffs. Even last season's Washington Wizards made the playoffs despite an awful start.
