AN infectious diseases expert called on the government to reconsider its position against administering booster doses to health care workers, citing mounting evidence suggesting the efficacy of some vaccines, especially the Chinese-made CoronaVac, wanes after several months.

Dr. Rontgene Solante, head of the Adult Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine Department of the San Lazaro Hospital and a member of Vaccine Expert Panel, referred to "consistent data" that vaccines lose their efficacy six months after inoculation.
