BACOLOD CITY: Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar has ordered the investigation on the killing of an operative of the Bacolod City police anti-drug unit on Sunday.

Eleazar, in a statement, said all angles should be checked to determine the real motive behind the killing of Police SSg. Joseph Nepomuceno and ensure the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

Nepomuceno, a member of the drug enforcement unit, was shot dead at around 5 p.m. on Rosario Street in Barangay 38.

Police Maj. Ramel Sarona, station 1 commander, said Nepomuceno, who was riding his scooter when fired upon by riding-in-tandem suspects, sustained multiple bullet wounds and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Eleazar also expressed his "deep sympathies to the bereaved family of Nepomuceno and ensured that all necessary assistance would be provided for them."

He vowed that justice would be served.

Eleazar also urged witnesses and persons who may have information to come forward and help authorities bring the perpetrators to justice.
