THESE days, academe will find graduate students hurriedly crafting the research proposal title, hoping that such shall help them proceed with their research proposals - that is, chapters 1 to 3. Several readers requested some tips on how to come out with a research proposal title so they can "get started." Hence in today's write up, we will try responding to this request. We presume these students are familiar with research designs that are popular with budding researchers - who are referred to as "degree candidates" after having finished with all their required subjects and passed the comprehensive examinations.

A folder for future research titles and proposals. Students could keep notes of their understood knowledge on a major theory or two and related concepts which interest them in every subject they take. They can be made to discuss these clearly in class and could also be instructed to propose research titles drawn out of these chosen theories/concepts. This way, they get the "feel" of drawing up proposed research titles from which they can proceed to write their research proposals. A folder on these favored theories and concepts and proposal titles in every subject taken will come in handy when they enroll in Research and Statistics which requires them to submit a research proposal. It is usual though that they find difficulty in coming up with the research proposal ready for formal oral defense, much less come out with a research title. The folder with their stock of understood knowledge could be a ready source for a research proposal title and from which they can proceed to write a proposal and at this stage, along with coaching of their research adviser.
