The Department of Health (DoH) has expressed support for the call of the World Health Organization (WHO) that the introduction of booster doses should be backed by strong evidence and must target population groups in "greatest need."

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged richer countries to observe a moratorium on the delivery of the booster doses until the end of the year to enable countries to vaccinate at least 40 percent of their population.
