New US Tennis Open Champion Emma Raducano and finalist Leylah Fernandez have not only conquered the City that never sleeps but captured the world in awe. These teenagers have arrived in style. A mere 19 year old qualifier has won the last biggest Grand Slam title for the year while an 18 yr old Filipina Ecuadorian has taken all sports loving people by storm representing Great Britain and Canada respectively. The last time two teenagers played the same finals was in 1999. Age is just a number. It's how much you want it. Even Novak Djokovic knows this well by now. His long reign and historic Grand slam obsession just missed it. To another young Russian Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. He had all the reasons to weep in the end, yet won the hearts of everyone in Flushing Meadow by losing graciously. Heart of another champion. Sometimes, you can turn a loss into a bigger Win. Another era has ended. Here comes the new Breed. The new AGE. Hope we produce some very young and new home grown tennis talents as well, soon aside from Alex Eala.

Hidilyn is now Negros' adopted daughter

Our Olympic golden heroine Hidilyn Diaz just became Negros' adopted daughter last week as signed by Gov Bong Lacson and Vice Gov Jeffrey Ferrer in front of Mayors, media, and other enthusiasts led by former Gov. Lito Coscolluela, President of the Neg. Occ. Sports and Cultural Foundation and Provl Admin Atty. Ray Diaz, in recognition of her outstanding and memorable Gold medal performance in the last tokyo Olympics. And now, the Governors League has just also announced that they plan to give Hidilyn another one million pesos. When it rains, it pours. I'm afraid to admit that she probably gained some weight while eating very sumptuous food in Sugarlandia and the City of Smiles. Batchoy, Calea, chicken inasal, pancit molo, puto, etc, you name it, she and her Coach, Julius Naranjo had it. I'd like to thank Seda, Merciz, Toka, Kinoboy, Bantug Resort, Pal, Badyang Cafe, Rolling Hills, Silay City under Mayor Mark Golez and Cong Kiko Benitez and 1529 coffee shop for making her stay memorable. Even if she had a food break, she still trained every morning at the new and impressive Shape Up fitness gym of the Coopers. And planted trees in their names in Bantug Resort, Rolling Hills Park, and our family farm in Granada. She now accepts her new lifestyle wherever she goes as fans and even kids squeeze their way to get a picture or an autograph with her. It also turned out a productive weekend as well for me as we discussed plans for the development of grassroots and long term programs for our sport Weightliftng, which new Constitution and by laws we approved for two days in Doha, Qatar recently, upon request of the International Olympic Committee.

Godspeed Rafa Dinglasan

One of our popular cheer leaders and former Green Archer, Rafa Dinglasan, passed away recently and will continue his loyal support up there where I suppose everything is GREEN. Animo Amigo.
