A rice paddy art project, now on its fourth year since the project was launched in 2018, gives honor to the man Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) was named after.

This rice project of MMSU and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) in Batac City in Ilocos Norte features the acronym "MMSU" and "1978," the year the university was named after the father of former president Ferdinand Marcos, a native of the town.
