The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has turned down proposals to adopt alternative ways to enable voters found positive for the coronavirus to cast their ballots in next year's national and local elections.

"As to the possibility of alternative means of voting, unfortunately these are not authorized by law and will not be employed on 9 May 2022," Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said over the weekend.
