Ilocos Sur First District Rep. Deogracias Victor Savellano pushed for the passage of a bill that will strengthen the law against the illegal trade of tobacco products as he warned that cigarette smuggling has become a lucrative business.

House Bill 7272 seeks to amend the Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act by imposing heavier penalties on those found guilty of smuggling cigars, cigarettes or heated tobacco products.
