With the Covid-19 pandemic slowing down economic growth, particularly in the southern part of the country, the government aims to have a more inclusive approach through an existing partnership with the United Nations' World Food Program (WFP) to ensure food security among the disadvantaged sectors.

Last year, the WFP sealed an agreement with the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to craft the Food Security and Nutrition Roadmap to address hunger and ensure food sustainability in the region.
