For a while, Advanced Micro Devices, generally referred to as AMD, appeared unable to restore market dominance from Intel in key computer hardware businesses. As recent as 2014, the company was condemned to fade into the shadows of its main competitor, locking horns for almost half a century. Of course, Intel dominated most of the time, but more often than not, the almost always Number Two gave a good fight. Despite the odds, AMD redeemed itself in a massive way.

Here, we talked to Ryan Sim, AMD's channel sales director for the Asia Pacific and Japan region, about the challenges and crucial elements that helped AMD, once again, reclaim the top spot in the consumer PC market and for how long, in this exclusive interview.
