THE country's intelligence agency on Monday bared that the New People's Army (NPA) amassed "tens of millions of pesos" during elections through its extortion activities.

Abelardo Villacorta, deputy director general of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, cited "intelligence reports" obtained by the agency that revealed that communist rebels collected millions of pesos from politicians who wished to campaign in areas held by the rebels.
