THE Energy Committee of the House of Representatives led by Deputy Majority Leader Juan Miguel "Mikey" Macapagal Arroyo held an inquiry to determine the cause of the supply problem that recently led to power rate spikes in Negros and Iloilo provinces.

Arroyo convened the committee hearing based on House Resolution 2206 filed by Negros Occidental Third District Rep. Francisco Benitez who linked the power rate hike to submarine cable that was damaged during the dredging activities of the Department of Public Works and Highways. The accident led to power outages.
