THE World Boxing Association (WBA) appears serious in its bid to get rid of its numerous "world" titles and come up with one champion per weight class.

In response to the avalanche of criticisms it has been receiving for having so many world champions in just one weight class (super champ, regular champ, interim champ), the WBA has decided to abolish all interim titles. The "interim" or temporary champs, numbering around 11, have been instead designated as the mandatory challengers in their respective weight divisions.
