THE Philippine economy will likely return to its pre-pandemic level by the third quarter of 2022, an economist from the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) said.

"We agree with [Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas] Governor Ben [Diokno] that we can return to 2019 GDP (gross domestic product) by the third quarter of 2022," said BPI lead economist Emilio Neri Jr. in a virtual briefing on Tuesday.
