CAMP MELCHOR F DELA CRUZ, Upi, Gamu, Isabela: A communist rebel was killed when government troops ran over a New People's Army (NPA) camp in Kalinga province on Saturday, the Army's 5th Infantry Division (5ID) reported on Tuesday.
Maj. Jekyll Julian Dulawan, 5th ID public affairs office chief, said a 35-minute firefight between the military and the NPA also led to the recovery of a high-powered firearm and other war materials in Barangay Bagtayan in Pasil town in the said province.
