THE jubilation expressed by the public this week at the long-awaited lifting of the requirement for the use of face shields — the most universally hated (and unnecessary) of all the government's pandemic control measures — seemed to mark a turning point in our long battle against Covid-19. In the public perception, at least, the country is recovering, and if things are not entirely normal yet, they are rapidly moving in that direction.
