THE events leading to the final day of substitution last Nov. 15, 2021 left many befuddled by the twists and turns. First was the odyssey of Davao City mayor, presidential daughter and presidential survey frontrunner Sara Duterte-Carpio. This was followed by the withdrawal of vice presidential survey frontrunner, senator and presidential "alalay" Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go and his subsequent entry into the presidential derby. Finally, there was the announcement from Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar that President Rodrigo Duterte was going to run as vice president in the next elections but the latter's representative eventually filed his candidacy for the Senate instead.
