MANGALDAN, Pangasinan: The United Lights of Pangasinan (Ulopan) will support the candidacy of Sen. Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for the May 2022 elections.
Businessman and Ulopan president Emilio De Guzman said the Pangasinan-based group is in full support of Go who is running for president and Duterte-Carpio who is running for vice president in 2022.
Go is vying for the presidency under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan party while the Davao City mayor is running under Lakas-CMD.
Ulopan is also endorsing the senatorial bids of President Rodrigo Duterte and former Public Works and Highways secretary Mark Villar.
Duterte earlier endorsed the tandem of Go and Duterte-Carpio for the 2022 polls.
Ulopan has over 100,000 volunteer-members in the vote-rich province of Pangasinan. It was founded by Secretary Raul Lambino in Mangaldan town in 2014 and had it registered as a non-stock and non-profit organization with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Lambino is currently the Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon.
"Prominent Pangasinenses have already established Ulopan chapters in different provinces in Northern and Central Luzon including Metro Manila," De Guzman said.
He explained that Ulopan's mission is to formulate policies, develop projects and programs, encourage volunteerism, unity, solidarity and teamwork, and engage in activities that will help improve the quality of life and welfare of the people of Pangasinan.
During the 2019 elections, De Guzman said their members who are all registered voters had volunteered and went around Pangasinan to campaign for Mark Lambino when he ran for vice governor. He noted that Lambino then garnered more than 700,000 votes and obtained more than 200,000 convincing margin against his rival.
De Guzman said he is convinced that the growing membership spread all over the country can deliver substantial votes for the candidates they are supporting in next year's elections.
