I first met Budjette Tan — one-half of the pair of genius co-creators of the phenomenally successful Filipino graphic novel, Trese, in 1994. I was writing a section called "On the Verge" for Mirror Weekly, and we communicated via snail mail. He told me about a comic book art exhibit in Robinson's Galleria in one of his letters, and from then on, my eyes opened up to the fantastic scene of local creators, writers and artists of which Budjette is passionately part.
