The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has accelerated the implementation of its 'Green Port' initiatives to mitigate the impacts of Climate Change and achieve sustainable port operations. PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago said that PPA has laid down the foundation and is taking more advanced Climate Change mitigation initiatives after a series of successful measures were implemented in the past five years.
PPA entered a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) the Philippines in September to reduce plastic wastes in three ports, the Manila North Harbor, Batangas Port, and Cagayan de Oro (CDO) port in Misamis Oriental.
