THE Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminded government employees that absences due to vaccination against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) may be excused.

"The issuance provides for the treatment of absences incurred by government officials and employees during the day of the inoculation of Covid-19 vaccine and/or the required treatment or recuperation period from any AEFI (adverse event following immunization) of Covid-19 vaccine," said CSC in a statement.

It explained that absences may be excused during the day of the inoculation of the first and second doses of the vaccine, including future booster shots, and on days when the employee is required to undergo treatment or for a recuperation period from AEFI of any of the vaccine doses.

CSC said that a maximum of 15 calendar days of excused absences may be allowed for cases of serious AEFI and that the employee must submit a medical certificate and/or medical abstract indicating the diagnosis, management done, and the number of days of recuperation needed, signed by the attending physician.

Meanwhile, for non-serious AEFI, a maximum of three calendar days of excused absences may be allowed provided that they submit a medical certificate signed by an attending physician at the vaccination center or medical facility they underwent observation due to AEFI.
