AFTER more than five decades as a public servant, Deputy Speaker and Buhay party-list Rep. Jose "Lito" Atienza was looking forward to retirement, so it came as a surprise not just to his family but also to himself when he agreed to be the running mate of Sen. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao.
"Wala talaga sa plano ko. Buong pamilya ko nagulat, mga anak ko. Ako mismo nagulat (It wasn't really my plan. My whole family was surprised, my children. I myself was surprised)," the former mayor of Manila told The Manila Times TV program "Diretsong Pananaw."
